BIOGRAPHY
Coach Howell is entering his second year as a member of the Fulton Baseball staff and his 17th year overall as a high school baseball coach. He has a track record of developing players and has coached several players that have gone on to play college baseball throughout his career. This will be his fifth year coaching with Coach McNish and being on his staff as he spent 3 years (2 as the JV/Developmental Team Head Coach and one as Varsity Assistant) at West High School under Coach McNish.
Like Coach McNish, Coach Howell is no stranger to winning programs, as he has been a part of 4 District Championship teams and 5 Region Tournament appearances. While at Monterey High School in Monterey, TN as an assistant, he helped guide the Wildcats to Back to Back District Championships and 2 Region Tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003. During his stint at Cookeville High School as an assistant under Butch Chaffin, he was the Head JV/Developmental Coach and a Varsity Assistant from 2004-2006. In 2013, Coach Howell moved to Knoxville after some time off and coached under Scott Rimmer at Carter High School in Strawberry Plains and served as a Varsity Assistant where he helped guide the Hornets to a District Championship in 2014 and a Region Tournament appearance in 2015.
Coach Howell is a Graduate of Tennessee Tech University in his hometown of Cookeville, Tennessee and is in his second year at Fulton High School as a teacher and coach and his 13th year overall as a teacher (11yrs at Carter Middle School/7th Grade Science). In his high school days, he played for legendary coach Brent "Butch" Chaffin at Cookeville High School from '93-'96 as a catcher. He was named All-District and Best Defensive Player his senior year and also received the Brian Wasik (Hustle/Leadership) Award. He is married to his wife Taylor and they have two sons, Cason (6), and Cale (3)
